Soup, spices, veg and coca cola bakes!

There was an air of mystery when the WLBC got together last week; what were the bakes and what unusual ingredient were they baked with? The evening started with the usual tea, coffee and digging into all the deliciousness but this time it was all a little more serious as we sniffed, stared and chewed slowly trying to guess all the flavours. It was soon apparent that we were all struggling to guess so a new game begun and we soon had it all sorted out. Who knew you could make a fabulously moist cake from tomato soup? Yes, tomato soup! Enjoy the pictures below.

For the second part of the evening we held a baking surgery; what’s the best way to make bread? Did anyone have a foolproof pastry recipe? How to mix colour into fondant icing? Lots of tips and help was shared.

Our next meeting will take place on Wednesday 5th December 2012 at 8pm in Murieston Village Hall. The theme will be confirmed shortly but will be based around Christmas.

Chocolate and Chat

Last Wednesday we held our second baking event with 19 bakers getting together to bring a bake based around an Easter Chocolate theme.

We welcomed 7 new Ladies and after a quick bit of business to decide on our next dates and theme we dived in to all the wonderful baking. Many of us chose the chocolate route but there were some fabulous Easter bakes too including a simnel cake and gorgeous mini hot cross buns.

I’ve posted all the pictures to the flickr account but big apologies to Morag as some how I missed taking a picture of her lovely lemon easter cake. I can confirm it was delicious and even took a piece home.

Our next event takes place on Thursday 17th May with a coffee evening and then we have our baking event on Wednesday 20th June. Please get in touch with us at wlbakingclub@yahoo.co.uk if you would like more information.
