Our last ever meeting at Murieston Village Hall before we move onto pastures new in Dechmont was held on the 29th May. Having dispensed with Team Paul (boo) and Team Mary (hurray!), our theme this month was ‘bake from another country’. 15 people turned up with a selection of weird and wonderful unnamed dishes from as far afield as Mexico, Finland, and Australia, and after the usual welcome and introduction from Gillian, we got out the paper plates and set about putting them to the taste test – everyone’s favourite part of the evening! As ever, our competitive streaks were put to the test when we had to guess the name of a cake and which country each one came from in a competition with Janette scooping first prize – although we had hoped to offer an all expenses paid trip to a destination of her choice in keeping with our travel theme, we soon found that the petty cash sadly didn’t stretch that far!
There were further discussions about the charity afternoon tea which has now been confirmed for Saturday 5th October, with David Stein Butchers confirming their generous sponsorship. Further arrangements will be made over the coming months.
The next meeting will be held on Wed 10th July. Please get in touch if you would like more information.

The theme for our next meeting is to bake either a bread product or something made with your own homemade pastry. I personally think this is our most challenging theme to date but please don’t be put off remember we are trying to encourage each other to try something new.
The meeting will take place in Murieston Village Hall at 8.15pm on the 27th February 2013. As always there will be a small charge of £2 towards the hall cost.
Please email me at email@example.com to let me know what you are baking and I will add it to this post.
Any questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

No sugar rush at Baking Club this time but plenty of carbohydrates!
Everyone agreed that our savoury bake theme was a real challenge and meant a search through the recipe books for some inspiration. Everyone did well and as you will see from the pictures below we had a lovely selection of bakes.
Enjoy the photo’s!
